Many moons ago (about 14 months) our customer decided that they
would renovate their bathroom.
They approached Porcelanosa to provide a design and supply the
materials and once everything was selected they purchased the items
and selected a plumber.
The plumber began (hence the half-removed bathroom look in our
before pictures), removing the shower, basin, cabinet and some of
the tiles. It would seem after that point he got cold feet and
decided that he would disappear, without continuing the bathroom -
perhaps caused by the complexity of some of the items.
This stunning bathroom contains a wall mounted column shower set in
a tiled wet area with glass divider, whirlpool bath, wall hung
marble top with bowl on top and as if that wasn't enough, it is
fully tiled in limestone tiles - which weigh a crazy 34kg/m2 without
the adhesive!
Our customer contracted us to continue the work (some might say
start the work) and having just completed, our customer is very
happy with the final result as are we. Testament to this is
the fact that they asked us to renovate the cloakroom WC which will
be placed on the website following completion (more tiles are on
order).
AWI installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Re-construction of the airing cupboard including
hanging a new door and mounting a fold down step inside the cupboard
to make access to the higher levels easier - see the pictures below
- Making good of the walls in preparation for
tiling including lining with concrete backer boards to cope with the
massive 40kg/m2 (with adhesive, approximately) weight of tiles
- Construction of the wet-area including laying the
under-tile tray and tanking
- Installation of PVC ceiling cladding in white
gloss
- Installation of 7 * spotlights and a 5" remote motor fan
- Re-plumbing as required to support the new layout
including installation of salt based automatic water softener
(Newton-le-Willows suffers very hard water which causes limescale
deposits on glass, chrome etc) - pictured in the airing cupboard to
the left below
- Re-wiring as required including installation of
whirlpool circuit, protected circuit for shaver point and lit mirror
(due to proximity of wet area), under-floor heating
- Walls fully tiled (limestone tiles)
- Floor fully tiled including installation of
Warmup under-tile heating including in the wet area(limestone tiles)
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including
Porcelanosa Fil shower column, glass divider, whirlpool bath, wall
hung marble platform with bowl on top, towel radiator and
accessories
