En-suite Some people would consider the old bathroom
adequate for their needs but it despite it being functional it
wasn't particularly to the tastes of our homeowner, and the
new-build design features like the pokey shower left a lot to be
desired, particularly given the size of the room.
Our homeowners are both involved in design to differing extents and
as such had some very specific ideas and tastes for their personal
en-suite bathroom. They wanted a modern, clean and elegant
look and had enlisted a large Nationwide company to help work with
them on the layout of the room.
The proposed layout was pretty much as per the photographs with one
change - we proposed that instead of cramming another pokey shower
enclosure into the corner as the Nationwide company had suggested,
we instead constructed an open wet-area which would enhance the
feeling of space when showering.
Amazing tiles including matching ceramic corner pieces (rather than
the more traditional metal or plastic tile trim) meant this room
looks simply stunning with clean lines throughout.
We and our customer are really pleased with the room.
AWI installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Demolition of the shower enclosure
- Construction of a new stud wall to conceal
pipe-work and allow the WC cistern to be built in
- Construction of the wet-area including partial
framing to extend the length
- Ceiling skimmed flat then painted with 2 coats
kitchen/bathroom paint
- Installation of 7 * IPX4 SELV down-lighters
controlled by an MK grid system dimmer with fan on separate switch
- Installation of LED lighting behind the towel
rail to back light the feature (separately switched within the grid
switch)
- Installation of electric under-tile heating
system (Warmup)
- Walls fully tiled (1m * 0.3m ceramic tiles)
- Floor fully tiled (porcelain tiles)
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including
walk in shower with thermostatic shower, concealed cistern WC,
wall hung basin, free-standing bath and chrome towel rail
