| Blackburn Road, Darwen - Accessible Shower Room
Having completed the kitchen renovation (see
here for more
information).
An old and tired wet room, originally constructed by the local
authority - it resembled more of a cattle grid than a shower!
Under the grid was a large void which was the collector of water
which fell towards a drain - we filled this in, preparing the floor
gradients carefully so that the tiling would fall towards a new
tile-able gully drain.
Construction of a concealed cistern WC housing and wall hung
plinth for the sit on basin which were both tiled really give this
room an air of luxury whilst maintaining the accessibility - again
proving that accessible wet rooms do not have to have the appearance
of a hospital.
AWI helped design, specify, part-supplied & installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Construction of the wet area including gradient
forming, installation of tile-able gully and water-proofing
(tanking)
- Construction of concealed cistern WC housing and
plinth for basin
- Walls tiled as depicted (ceramic tiles)
- Floor tiled (ceramic tiles)
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including shower, WC, basin and towel rail
