Having already completed work on the main bathroom
(see here for more information)
we continued with the downstairs shower room.
The room was old and tired with a small shower squashed between
the outside wall and a partition wall - a typical trick which
creates a claustrophobic space, a terrible idea in all unless there
are no alternatives. We were asked to build a wet room, bright
and open with large walk in shower area, simple yet functional.
We suggested removing the loft hatch (not required for access)
and cladding the ceiling, fully tiling the room and using a simple
Daryl wet room divider to complete the area. Our customer
chose a replacement WC and basin and to complement, some accessories
including large lit mirror.
A simply stunning, open, bright a clean space.
AWI helped design, specified, supplied and installed this bathroom.
Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
Construction of the wet area including tanking
(water-proofing)
Making good of the walls in preparation for
tiling
Framing and boarding of the old loft hatch
Re-wiring to add a supply for the lit mirror,
installation of 6 * spotlights and a 5" remote motor fan
Re-plumbing as required to support the new layout
including concealing the central heating pipes within the wall
(though not clear from the pictures there was some elaborate boxing
in around the door way to hide these - not pretty to tile)
Walls fully tiled (ceramic tiles)
Floor fully tiled (limestone, continued on from
the kitchen where this room leads off)
Glossing of the new woodwork and door (the door
in the pictures had only been undercoated and is now fully white!)
Installation of the new bathroom suite including
glass divider, thermostatic shower,
basin/pedestal, WC, towel radiator and
accessories
