Bathroom Recommended by a neighbour, this customer
asked us to quote for renovating their bathroom. The only
problem was they were not really sure what they wanted or where.
The only thing they did know was that one half of the couple
wanted a nice deep bath and the other a large separate shower
enclosure!
Having selected their suite, we set about designing a room to fit
(a little different to the norm!) and this involved dropping the
main stud wall which the door and sink are against now and
re-erecting it 30cm/12" further out into the corridor to allow the
space to install the suite.
Following a request for input from ourselves, we added under-tile
heating, 2 lit recesses above the bath for decoration purposes and a
large format tile (luxurious, rich colour selected by our client).
Unfortunately, before pictures were not taken - not through
forgetfulness but because they would be difficult to tie in the with
the new layout given the whole room was demolished and re-built.
When plasterboarding the exterior walls, we suggested the use of
an insulated plasterboard with damp proof membrane in it to combat
the lack of cavity between the inner and outer walls. In
addition, whilst on-site our client asked us to fully re-board and
re-plaster the bedroom to the rear of this bathroom, again using
insulated boards.
AWI designed, helped specify, supplied & installed this bathroom.
