Bathroom Wetroom
It is always unfortunate when the health of an individual requires
conversion of their bathroom to an accessible wet-room. This
client had a nasty fall whilst on holiday and since then has never
been able to fully walk un-aided. This makes showering and
even toilet visits much more difficult than they need be.
We were asked if we could provide a design for this very small
bathroom which would allow wheelchair showering and easier use of
the WC.
We suggested a Contour wet-room shower which has an under-flooring
tray with in-built gradients and a none-slip Polyfloor Hydro
polyvinyl flooring on top. A wall hung pedestal means a wheel
chair can roll underneath and a raised height WC pan makes the
toilet easier to get down to and up from.
We and our client are really pleased with the room which has
improved it's usability - we think you will agree this is another
example which proves that domestic care wet-rooms do not have to
look like something extracted from a hospital.
AWI designed, specified, supplied & installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Installation of new central light fitting
- Excavating the floor to allow installation of the
under-floor tray
- Excavation of the driveway to allow installation
of a new WC - the existing soil pipe was located within the floor
and could not be moved - we excavated, disconnected this old section
and tapped in a new external soil pipe connector
- Walls fully tiled (ceramic tiles)
- Floor covered in Polyfloor Hydro including coving
up all walls to make it watertight and allow ease of cleaning
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including
bi-folding Contour shower door and curtain arrangement, electric
shower, 450mm high WC,
wall hung basin and towel rail
