| Cornelian Street, Blackburn Having
already renovated our homeowner's parents' house (see
here and
here for more
information, among other family members - see
here!), we were pleasantly surprised to
be invited to
carry out the renovation of this tiny and very tired bathroom in the
middle of this mid-terraced house.
Being in the middle of the property, there are no windows to
introduce natural light to it was important that the room was
simple, light and airy and we think our homeowner made some good
choices to make the most of the room including simple yet effective
natural stone tiles - travertine (similar to marble).
AWI installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
coverings
- Marginally lowering the ceiling (the ceiling was
in too poor a state to renovate and being a terraced house, the
amount of soot and dust on top made removal impossible)
- Framing to create a shelved area at the bottom of
the bath (this room is above the stairwell and as such has a sloping
area within the floor which accommodates head height in the
stairwell - the shelf is built above this and will house some
furniture at a later date)
- Re-plumbing as required to support the new layout
- Installation of PVC ceiling cladding
- Walls fully tiled (travertine tiles)
- Floor fully tiled (travertine tiles)
- Installation of the new bathroom suite bath with
shower and screen above, wall hung basin, back-to-wall WC, towel
radiator and accessories
