A truly interesting job from start to finish - our customer, rather unusually had the idea to create a 40s themed bathroom complete with free standing cast iron bath, high level WC cistern, mosaic wall tiles and more - all to be decorated with memorabilia of the time.  This bathroom was a real breath of fresh air and an interesting and rewarding change to our normal bathroom installations.

The room had unfortunately suffered the effects of subsidence early in it's life meaning it was about as straight as a dog's back leg.  Not only that but it had also suffered from a builder who unfortunately was unaware that spirit levels had been invented when he was plastering the room out - interesting? more like fun - all in a days work!

From start to finish the job included:

• Re-plumbing as required to support the new layout including re-building of the soil stack to move the WC and bath around
• Re-wiring including installation of twinkle lights on the ceiling giving a starry night kind of feel; addition of a wall light near the high level WC; installation of a lit mirror above the basin; installation of a extractor fan and shower light switched separately from the main lights
• Removal of the existing floorboards (all damaged or rotten), removal of the concrete hearth (from the old fire); framing up of the floor within the hearth area; installation of new P5 grade chipboard flooring in readiness for the Karndean fitters to over-ply and lay
• Walls partly tiled (mosaic tiles - fully within the shower; to 1.1m high around the remainder of the room)
• Installation of new skirting boards and dado rail
• Installation of the new bathroom suite Merlyn Series 5 900 * 760mm shower enclosure with Bristan Exposed traditional shower valve, basin with pedestal, high level cistern and pan WC, free-standing cast iron bath with pipe work concealing pillars and exposed chrome waste pipe-work, towel radiator and accessories
