Bathroom Having seen the renovation work we carried out
in their next door neighbours' house, our customer was so impressed
that they decided to choose AWI to carry out a similar renovation in
their home. We are very proud to be selected in this way as it
speaks volumes of our workmanship and customer care.
Originally a separate toilet and bathroom as with so many houses
of this period, the bathroom felt confined.
We were asked to design a new bathroom bearing these points in
mind, hopefully removing the wall which divided the two rooms adding
a bath AND separate shower and also construct something around the
boiler.
We designed a new room layout, moving the bath under the window
to free up space and moving the WC to the center of the old bath
wall which allowed for the installation of a glorious new Matki shower enclosure,
lastly a cupboard complete with pine door was built around the
boiler leaving a neat finish.
We think the twist with the tiling layout which we helped our
customer design make this a stylish and distinct bathroom.
AWI designed, specified, supplied and installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
coverings
- Demolition of the dividing wall
- Removal of both door casings and construction of
a new door casing across the landing including re-hanging of one of
the existing doors and skimming of the outside wall
- Removal of the loft hatch within the bathroom (it
used to reside outside the two doors and as such once the new
doorway was installed it would have been in the bathroom which was
undesirable), installation of a new loft hatch on the landing and
loft ladder
- Concealment of the soil stack vent pipe within
the wall (this is visible in the old pictures as a pipe casing in
the right hand corner of the WC)
- Construction of a new cupboard around the boiler
including hanging a new door
- Preparation of the walls including re-dry-lining
as required
- Re-plumbing as required to support the new layout
- Re-wiring including installation of a new circuit to provide power
to the new heating circuits (under-floor
heating and a summer element in the towel radiator)
- Installation of PVC ceiling
cladding
- Installation of a 6 * IPx4 mains voltage halogen
down-lighters
- Walls fully tiled (ceramic tiles tiled using 4
variants of the same tile to give a stunning appearance by featuring
the shower, basin and window wall)
- Floor fully tiled (porcelain tiles)
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including
900mm Matki Pentagonal Quintesse enclosure with Matki Elixir thermostatic mixer
shower with fixed deluge head and separate riser/handset, separate bath
with center mounted taps, Duravit back to wall WC, Duravit wall hung
basin with semi-pedestal, chrome towel rail complete with
programmable electrically heated summer element (the towel rail is
dual powered - water from the central heating and electrically
through an element - this allows the towel rail to still be heated
even when the central heating is off - ideal for drying towels in
the summer months) and
accessories
