| Fog Lane, Didsbury - Main
Bathroom Following recommendation from their sister who
we have worked for previously (see here
for more information), this client invited us in to renovate a large
portion of their home including the kitchen (see
here for before and after
photographs) , bathroom and cloakroom WC.
The old room incorporated a shower which must have been
unpleasant to use - we think lethal could describe it accurately -
take a look lower down to see the offending article.
Back on with the description!
The client wanted to incorporate a bath and shower to maximise
re-sale opportunity later and of course to provide them with the
maximum level of convenience. To do this we proposed knocking
down the airing cupboard which meant removal of the hot water
cylinder.
Given the age and condition of the heating system, we proposed
removing the existing boiler (which also had to be done to
facilitate the kitchen), removing the hot water cylinder and
installing a combi-boiler. Our client accepted this proposal
and we were happy to carry out the works which once complete allowed
us to remove the airing cupboard and continue with the room.
We think the room has really opened up and is neat, tidy and
modern.
AWI helped design & specify, supplied & installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Installation of new gas fired combination boiler
and removal of hot water cylinder
- Demolition of the airing cupboard
- Ceiling skimmed and painted with 3 coats
kitchen/bathroom paint
- Constructed the false stud behind the shower to
conceal the stop tap and soil pipe which was within the airing
cupboard
- Walls fully tiled
- Thermal insulation boards laid on the floor
- Under-tile heating laid and floor fully tiled
- Floor fully tiled
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including
thermostatic bar mixer shower, shower enclosure, towel rail, wall hung basin and bath
