Following renovation of the main bathroom (see here), we continued with the en-suite.

Once again the aim was to retain the vanity units (though this time, due to existing damage, the worktop was replaced) and to somehow install a larger shower - this was challenging due to the door wall which was used to form the existing shower enclosure. 

We decided to install a long offset quadrant shower tray (1200 * 800mm) with an 800mm2 shower enclosure on the end - the remaining 400mm of the tray would be in the older shower recess, effectively bringing the enclosure out into the room whilst increasing the shower area significantly.

This left 400mm remaining in depth within the old shower area which our customer showed an interest in using for storage so we constructed a cupboard, accessible from the bedroom which can be seen in the last pictures.

We think the idea really works, making the most out of a small space.  The floor will be finished in Karndean at a later time.

From start to finish the job included:

• Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor coverings
• Re-plumbing as required to support the new layout including addition of a shower
• Construction of a new stud wall, 400mm into the old shower enclosure to create the back of the new enclosure
• Construction of a door way into the un-used space including hanging of 1/2 a door (literally!)
• Installation of PVC ceiling cladding
• Installation of 6 * 35w equivalent LED spot lights (these use 0.1w power and dissipate very little heat making them incredibly energy efficient)
• Installation of a 6"/150mm inline extractor fan ducted outside
• Installation of a 4"/100mm inline extractor fan in reverse operation to introduce air into the room if required
• Walls fully tiled (ceramic tiles)
• Installation of the new bathroom suite including replacement basin taps and waste, new concealed WC cistern, re-installation of the WC pan, large shower enclosure, thermostatic mixer shower, shower tower which includes deluge head and moveable riser rail, towel radiator and accessories
