| Minehead Avenue, Leigh - Shower Room
Having visited Porcelanosa whilst shopping for their new shower
room, this client came across our name on the Porcelanosa
recommended fitters list.
We were asked for a few things including could the pipes be
hidden which were boxed in the old room - in some large boxing we
might add. We were also asked if the "doorway" to the shower
could be removed - our client was told many years ago that this was
not possible as it was supporting the floor above.
Investigations by us showed this was not the case and so we proposed
removing the pillars and top section to open up the shower area.
Our client selected their suite and an elaborate arrangement of
tiles which suited both their styles. A compromise between
them we were led to believe but whatever the case may be we think
the tiling work is stunning as a result of the mix of colour and
type.
The ceiling was initially clad with high gloss uPVC panelling but
our client was not 100% happy with this as a finish (we have found
some people love it and others hate it - there doesn't seem to be an
in-between) so we removed the cladding and plastered the ceiling
ready to receive decoration.
All in all, we think you will agree this is a stunning and
vibrant room.
AWI helped design & installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Demolition of the "supporting wall"
- Re-plumbing including cutting into the floor to
conceal the shower tray waste and cutting into the walls to conceal
the supply pipe-work
- Walls plaster-boarded ready for tiling
- Installation of white gloss PVC panelling on the
ceiling and subsequent plastering of the ceiling
- Installation of 2 * IPX4 SELV halogen
downlighters
- Walls fully tiled (a mixture of tumbled
travertine, natural stone mosaics and red glass mosaics)
- Floor fully tiled (porcelain tiles)
- Installation of the new bathroom suite including
shower, WC, basin and towel rail
