Bathroom Having already worked for the son of this
customer (see here for more
information) we were more than happy to take on this renovation
project.
We apologise for the lack of before pictures but hopefully the
description helps understand the changes implemented to produce this
bathroom.
In the old room, the bath ran along under the window with the
taps/shower where the new basin is; The WC was in the same
location and the basin was on the window wall at the bottom end of
the bath. The airing cupboard extended approximately 30cm/12"
further into the room than it does now and was reduced to open up
the space whilst still leaving a spacious airing cupboard (which was
huge before).
The room wasn't very giving in it's ability to allow us to
install a shower enclosure. No wall except where the WC was
had enough free space to accommodate the side tiled walls of the
shower and if we put it where the WC was, there would be too little
space to allow the WC to be used comfortably.
The solution (whilst un-usual) was to frame across the front of
the window to the bare minimum required to accommodate the shower
enclosure. This framing was done in such a way that the window
is still accessible and as a solution doesn't look odd in the room.
We clad the ceiling, added spotlights and an extractor fan and
the remainder of the room was fully tiled with one or two luxuries
including an extravagant cabinet and under-tile heating.
AWI designed, helped specify, supplied & installed this bathroom.
From start to finish the job included:
- Removal of the existing suite, wall & floor
covering
- Reduction of the airing cupboard including
re-framing and trimming/re-hanging of the door
- Framing across the front of the window reveal to
receive the shower enclosure
- Re-hanging of the main door, opening on the
opposite side including replacement of the door with a new one
- Walls made good in readiness for tiling
- Ceiling clad with 4 spotlights and extractor fan
installed
- Installation of vanity units as depicted
- Installation of electric point to provide for the
mirrored cabinet; Addition of new circuit to allow installation of
Mira Sport Max shower; Addition of new circuit to allow for
under-tile heating and other bathroom circuits
